book cover

An intoxicating blend of noir crime, science fiction and fantasy The Last City is Blade Runner meets Perdido Street Station.

Scorpia – the last city of Aquais – where the Ar Antarians rule, the machine-breeds serve and in-between a multitude of races and species eke out an existence somewhere between the ever-blazing city lights and the endless darkness of the underside.

As a spate of murders and abductions grip the city, new recruit Silho Brabel is sent to the Oscuri Trackers, an elite military squad commanded by the notorious Copernicus Kane. But Silho has a terrible secret and must fight to hide her strange abilities and monstrous heritage.

As the team delve deeper into Scorpia’s underworld, they discover a nightmare truth. Hunted by demons, the Trackers must band together with a condemned fugitive, a rogue wraith and a gangster king and stake their lives against an all-powerful enemy to try to save one another and their world.

  1. I have just finished the last city and must say I really enjoyed it. A helterskelter ride through a complex world of new stuff.what I enjoyed most was your intelligent story telling and descriptive language. So many e books are badly written and poorly edited.well done and I look forward to meeting Eli again.

Ahhhh, Now Nina, taking me to places where the whirlwind shadows of an arcane society mixes with the embellishments of high technology is a fine art indeed!! Not only did I not get enough sleep, but, was sorrowful when I had to stop reading to actually get some sleep. LOL You led me on such a merry chase that the time continuum ceased to exist. Your blend of all sorts of madness made me yearn to fall into the world of these wonderful characters and live there forever, and for this I thank you eternally *smile*. Please don’t ever stop writing!!! I will definitely tell others of The Last City. Be Thee Well and Peace be always with you. Your new adoring fan, James Shawanda.

  8. Jayden Conti says:

Wow, Nina! I honestly didn’t expect myself to particularly enjoy this book because I’m not much of a crime reader, but this book, this masterpiece, is so much more than that! I just finished it and am filled with genuine sorrow that it’s over. The blend of a science-fiction-esque world with the biblical (for want of a better word) stuff like demons and whatnot left me speechless. There are a few things which make you stand out as a writer to me and these include your unparalleled ability to create truly deep characters that each have their own entirely unique backstory and complicated personality, as well as genuinely fantastic story-telling talent! Honestly, this plot line astounded me — darting from character to character, place to place, genre to genre, all the while constantly accelerating to a phenomenal climax. I can’t remember the last time I felt this way about a book. Truly wonderful stuff. Please, oh PLEASE keep writing!! I will be raving to all my friends, rest assured.
Looking forward to the sequel tremendously, Jayden.

I just finished reading this and I loved it so much! I didn’t think I was going to at first but I did. I loved the depth which allowed me to get further into the book and fall in love with characters. You always kept me on my feet though. I just hope the next book has more of Silho and Copernicus. I can seriously see this in a movie when the book catches on,and I’m sure it will. When it does you’ll see me auditioning! :D haha seriously.

  12. ninadaleo says:

Many thanks for your kind words Madison!! It’s very cool of you to write and let me know – it means a lot to me!! And yes let’s hope for a movie – lol :) Much love to you!!

Hi there Nina. Thanks for a fantastic enjoyable read. Loved this book to bits. I was devastated to click the last page and realise it really was over. Well written & edited. Great believable depth of characters, their rawness, strengths, fears and personal challenges were very realistic. Please please please, head down butt up (as we say in Aus) and get to the sequel. Whilst I’m nagging – please keep the same characters involved. :-) I do agree, your story has great potential for a movie, I hope you get a deal signed up :-) :-) Cheers n Merry New Festive Season Year (includes it all!!!) to you and your family.

  16. Kate says:

P.S. It’s next year here Nina…. LOL!! Where’s that sequel???

    • ninadaleo says:

Lol! :) Many thanks for getting in touch, Kate!! I really appreciate your lovely words!! The same characters will be returning and some new ones too :) Much love and Happy New Year to you and yours as well!!

  17. Guy says:

I, unfortunately, find myself wading through poorly formed garbage the vast majority of the time with the hope that I stumble across something more, something eclipsing. You’ve validated that hope.

    Thanks for sharing!

  18. ninadaleo says:

Thank you so much for this, Guy!!! It’s very cool of you to get in touch and let me know you liked it. Really appreciate it!! All my best wishes!

    • Guy says:

Just giving credit where it is due…

I’m definitely looking forward to more. It seems that you’re barely scratching the surface based on the framework and its inherit flexibility.

  19. ninadaleo says:

I’m definitely hoping to keep going. Book 2 will be out this year and then hopefully 3 and onwards after that! :)

  20. Peter says:

You have written a stunning novel, thank you, I found it great that you leave out enough detail for us to fill in the blanks and use our minds to see the novel rather than just read it. For me it rates up there with books like Altered Carbon, Gardens of the Moon, Wind up Girl and a few others, and like these books I would love to see a movie and a sequel

  21. ninadaleo says:

Thank you so much for this, Peter! It’s very humbling to be compared with such awesome books. Made my day! All my best wishes! (hoping for the sequel to be out a little later this year)
